New Edition of the National Directory of Adult Day Care Centers Published; Helps Work-life Program and Family Caregivers Compare and Evaluate Services
MANASQUAN, NJ -- More than 2,000 adult day programs have been added to the new edition of The National Directory of Adult Care Centers, produced by Health Resources Publishing.
The new, third edition of the directory provides comprehensive profiles of
the nation=s adult day care centers. More than 4,000 adult day centers are
included in the new edition.
Research to gather data for the directory was done through mail and fax surveys,
government agency research and telephone interviews.
The directory is designed to assist professional care managers helping in
the decision making process and family caregivers looking for assistance for
a loved one.

The directory provides information on choosing an adult day services program by describing more than 3,000 programs, contact names, comprehensive profiles of ADS programs and service and satellite programs.
AThis directory allows for easy access because day care centers are listed
by counties within a state,@ said Phyllis Harris, director of research at
Health Resources Publishing. AFor example, if you are searching from another
state or you=re in another state, the information is searchable by county
and is indexed by state in alphabetical order. Using the directory, individuals
can compare programs around the state or country and look-up the services
and activities offered by the adult day care centers,@ she explained.
The directory is an important informational tool to guide family members and
caregivers when researching adult day care programs. AMany families and caregivers
are not aware of the adult day care services available in the community,@
said Robert K. Jenkins, publisher of the directory.
AThe number of adult day care programs has grown significantly in recent years
reflecting the demographic trends of an aging population,@ he added.
AAdult day care programs are also a community response and help to keep the
person in need of assistance at home and in the community longer. Families,
and even employers are seeking information on care options for their loved
ones,@ Jenkins said.
